Asia is the world’s largest continent with around four billion people, or about 60 percent of the world’s population, residing in its forty-eighty countries. It is also a place where an extremely wide variety of ethnic groups, religions, and cultures come together to live. While Asia ranks second after Europe in terms of strong economies, many people continue to suffer in extreme poverty.

Moreover, various human rights issues persist throughout Asia, including human trafficking, forced labour, sexual exploitation, sexual discrimination, caste system, refugee and migration, religious conflict and civil war issues. Founded in January 2006, Human Asia strives to contribute to the establishment of the regional human rights protection mechanism in Asia by conducting research in human rights, human rights-based development projects, and providing human rights education programs.
