On June 24-25, Human Asia, together with a local NGO, Rainbow on the Hill, conducted a field visit to Mabalacat, Philippines, to assess the local educational environment
As part of the visit, Focus Group Interviews (FGIs) and a baseline survey were conducted with students and parents to identify educational needs.
During the visit, we found that many urban poor families were living in informal settlements under bridges due to high housing costs, affecting both their living conditions and children’s education.
On June 24, a Focus Group Interview (FGI) was conducted with upper-grade students from a public elementary school in Mabalacat. Students expressed strong interest in expanding educational opportunities.
A separate FGI with parents revealed that financial support is the greatest need for their children’s education. They also emphasized the importance of providing a stable learning environment.
Based onthe site visit, baseline survey and FGI findings, Human Asia will develop education programs that meet local needs and continue working to improve access to quality education.
