BOOK
| Une Histoire du Racisme (A History of Racism) Une Histoire du Racisme, 2000 / Author: Christian Delacampagne / Le Livre de Poche | | I couldn’t help purchasing this book after reading a comment on the book cover; ‘this book is aiming to participate in the reality.’ What caused races to form quasi-hierarchies and vindicate the hatred among them? I only admitted that racism is wrong; never thought to explore the reasons beneath the idea. The book opens defining racism as a serious evil. The author writes that hating someone not because of what he/she has done wrong but because of his/her difference is the basis of racism and the momentum of the history full of irrational animosity and condescension, which have been taking away many people’s habitats to enslave them; the history which have been justifying the slaughtering violence of mankind. The author repetitively emphasizes that racism is a pure fabrication not only philosophically but also scientifically. Colors cannot be a real difference among people and civilization should not be taken as a just reason for hierarchization of mankind. Moreover, violence for the satisfaction of greed beyond mere survival, which have treated the ‘gentile’ as hells’ firewood can never be the will of God, which the Crusade loved so much. How absurd the lie that this kind of hierarchy is inherited to their children via their bloodline. Racism is an inferior product of the would-be superior beings’ greed and ignorance. Racism expands to develop eugenics in the name of 'better mankind,' bringing forth the atrocious history of ethnic cleansing and cleansing of the disabled... |

Not only is it hard to discern the truth among hundreds of news updated on the portals it is also painstaking to find out about the truth, which the press deliberately omits to convey. No matter how important the information might be, it is hard for us to step aside from our daily routine to look for the truth. While the media are expected to provide information for the public, they very often write to manipulate the public. Even though it is true that we have a better chance finding the truth due to advancement of the internet, the power of the giant dailies is so strong that their impact has not been reduced since the past days without the internet. That is the reason why we need just and honest media. This movie is based on the true story of Jeffrey Wigand—a former vice president of research and development at Brown & Williamson—and Lowell Bergman—a CBS show producer—who strived to reveal the truth of tobacco by airing it against... |
